Hello

The name is Kenneth Tan. Just call me Ken… THE Ken of the Philippines! Hence the domain Ken.ph

This website will serve as my personal design portfolio and blog wherein I will be posting a lot of articles and resources relating to design in general. I’ll be making entrees regarding nice tips too should I come across some, for people who are interested to be able to learn more from the ideas that have spurred in my (or somebody else’s) right side of the brain.

I spend my time mostly doing a lot of different things that aren’t really that related to each other in terms of field. Nevertheless, I give the designing scene much needed time as it is my passion and stress reliever to create art and design. Self-employed is what I would really consider myself in this field. And yes, I do a lot of freelancing.

BACKGROUND

I graduated Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Arts in a College in Manila, though I must say I’ve always really liked arts and design that much and taking up a course related to that is much of a fun bonus in my college life considering I took up what I am into (and you should do the same).

Homestead was where I started at the age of 12. I can honestly say that I loved the Pokémon animé series that much back then that I enjoyed surfing websites about it. I then found this website giving “Awards” to good sites related to the anime so I built one on a drag and drop system only to find out later that it’s just an award on how that webmaster sees your website in terms of his/her aesthetics. I got a bronze, I think.

From there, I realized how HTML is far better off than any drag and drop. I self-studied it when I was 13 via LissaExplains.com. I recommend you do the same if you aren’t yet that skilled in HTML!

I moved on to learn CSS, all by myself again, via the wonders of Internet and further developed by web publishing skills by studying CMS. I started with Easy CMS, then Joomla!, and now I am mastering the art and poetry that is WordPress.

Through the process of web development and coding, I’ve learned to specialize in corporate branding or logo design and I am proud to say I’ve made companies happy with their identities.

EDUCATION

As I’ve stated, I graduated Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Arts with Academic Distinction in Asia Pacific College. The school is found in the Central Business District of Metro Manila – Makati City, Philippines.

Through the course of my stay, I’ve taken up a lot of subjects such as:

Freehand, 2D Animation, 3D Modeling, 3D Animation, Photography, Human Computer Interaction, Video Production, Advertising, Marketing Management, Management Principles, Desktop Publishing, Game Authoring and Development, Technical Writing, Digital Magazine, IT Concepts, Painting, Digital Sound, and Multimedia Writing

I’ve also taken up and received certificate for C++ Programming under Ateneo de Manila IT.

WEBSITES

NotOffline.com

This was my first blog which I created some time in 2009. It got hacked mid of 2010 but I managed to put it back up early 2011. I tackle basically anything under the sun here, most of which are related to where I am – the Philippines.

Zentoh.com

Here is where I did most of my web designing. I’ll still do it there although I’ve given myself permission to post up some works here. I also invest in domain names and that’s the venue where I publish the domain names I own.
